History

The former country house with coach house was built in 1868 by Jonkheer Lycklama a Nijeholt, together with Architect Samuel Adrianus van Lunteren from Utrecht. The monumental building served for many years as a coach house and coachman's house. In 1997, the former coach house was converted into accommodation in old English country house style. 6 rooms were created, including a special bridal suite, which still has a jacuzzi.

The coach house became famous for the secret discussions of political leaders in the Netherlands to form a new cabinet. This top-level meeting took place in the coach house in 2007 and led to the formation of the Balkenende IV cabinet. Since mid-2020, the coach house has been renovated again, this time into a luxury group accommodation with 7 luxury rooms with a private bathroom.
